ST Health Shadyside, a Magnet designated hospital, is currently hiring a Part-Time Registered Nurse to support our Outpatient Primary Care Practice in the Shea Medical Center.

This position is eligible for a generous sign-on bonus!

Sign-On Bonus Details:

  • $3,000 with a 2-year commitment to ST Health Nursing

Schedule: Two 10-hour shifts per week, scheduled Monday–Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

About the Position: This position is responsible for outpatient clinic nursing, including nurse visits, prescription refills, and medication and vaccine administration. The role also provides backup coverage for patient rooming, supports medication prior authorizations, and assists in the lab with phlebotomy as needed.

    • Develops patient-centered plans of care and partners with patients in decision-making

    • Triages patient needs and coordinates care with physicians

    • Assists physicians with assessment, evaluation, and patient education

  • Education & Professional Development

    • Applies adult learning principles in educating patients, families, students, and staff

    • Supports onboarding and development of new staff and learners

    • Seeks feedback and engages in continuous professional growth

  • Professional Accountability & Adaptability

    • Participates in shared governance and practice improvement initiatives

    • Adapts to change and supports transitions within the practice environment

    • Serves as an engaged, collaborative member of the care team

  • Workplace Culture & Safety

    • Models work-life balance, safe work practices, and effective time management

    • Communicates safety concerns to peers and leadership promptly

  • Minimum one year of experience preferred. BSN preferred.
  • ACLS preferred.
  • Prior outpatient experience preferred.
  • The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below. 
  • They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 30 days of hire
  • Registered Nurse (RN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)
    • Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
    • Graduate nurses must complete licensure examination within SIX MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first. Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), ST Health requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 6 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU.
